RetroCam-CCD Swapping Procedure
I. RetroCam -> CCD
- I. Close all IR programmes on CSP6 and CSP5.
CSP6, closes DOS Window "X"
- 1. Turn off the blue rack using black power strips
- 2. Turn off the two racks at both sides of telescope using the black power strips
- 3. Turn off blister box
- 4. Disconnect the 4 signal (black) cables from the preamp
- 5. Disconnect WFG cable into the bias box (labeled)
- 6. Disconnect the preamp power cable
- 7. Take off cover of CCD
- 8. Unscrew black knobs of both RetroCam and CCD
- 9. Release the four orange clamps at the bottom of the instrument base
- 10. Very carefully turn both instruments (at least two people required)
- NOTE: RetroCam swings around the north side of the instrument mounting base
- 11. Engage the pin into the pinhole on the instrument mounting base
- 12. Make sure the CCD power supply is off, and the blue blister box power off
- 13. Connect the CCD cables
- 14. Connect the filter wheel and shutter cables
- 15. Put in any CCD filters necessary
- 16. Turn on blister box
- 17. Turn on CCD power supply.
- NOTE: CCD must powered up for at least one hour, to allow temperature to stabilize
- 19. Rotate the instrument mounting base to an angle of 164.8.
- 20. In control room switch to CCD on TCS Switch Box (to left of DATA PC)
- 21. Focus for CCD is approx. 22.0 at Temp. = 12
- II. CCD -> RetroCam
- 1. CCD power supply OFF
- 2. Blue blister box power OFF
- 3. Remove at least one CCD filter and rotate to open position
- 4. Manually rotate shutter to open position
- 5. Disconnect CCD, filter wheel, and shutter cables
- 6. Remove cover of RetroCam
- 7. Unlock the CCD and RetroCam clamps
- 8. Release the four orange clamps at the bottom of the instrument base
- 9. Very carefully turn both instruments (at least two people required).
- NOTE: RetroCam swings around the
north side of the instrument mounting base
before engaging the pin into pinhole, make sure there is an empty slot
in the filter wheel
- 10. Engage the pin into the pinhole on the instrument mounting base, and clamp RetroCam
- 11. Connect the four signal cables into the preamp
- 12. Connect the WFG cable into the bias box
- 13. Connect the preamp power cable
- 14. Power up the three electronics racks (using the black power strips)
- 15. Turn ON blue blister box
- 16. Start up the CSP6
- 17. Rotate the instrument mounting base to an angle of 172.7
- 18. In control room switch to IR Camera on TCS Switch Box (to left of DATA PC)
- 19. Focus for RetroCam is approx. 21.0 at Temp. = 12
